Can stainless steel really not rust?
Although stainless steel requires little maintenance compared to other materials, it is not entirely maintenance-free. The most common misconception about stainless steel, that it cannot rust, is not entirely correct. Rust can indeed form, particularly in salty sea air and through flash rust.
The advantage
An attractive property of stainless steel is that the surface repairs itself as soon as the rust or dirt is removed. As a result, the stainless steel retains its shine for many years. Consider, for example, stainless steel fences, stairs, monuments, or works of art, where rust can detract from the appearance.
Flash rust on stainless steel
Flash rust consists of small rust spots that form on stainless steel, originating from external sources; iron particles suspended in the air that settle on the stainless steel. For example, when grinding iron, tiny iron particles are released into the air. A train running on rails also generates very fine iron dust. This dust lands on the stainless steel and, with a little moisture in the air, begins to rust, resulting in brown rust.

Stainless steel skin
A great property of stainless steel is that the surface repairs itself as soon as the rust contamination is removed by Ranex Rustbuster. As a result, the stainless steel remains beautifully shiny for years. Think of stainless steel fences, stairs, monuments, or stainless steel artworks where rust can mar the object.
How do you clean stainless steel?
Apply Ranex Rustbuster to rust on the stainless steel surface. The rust will disappear within a few minutes. As soon as the rust has dissolved, wipe the surface with a damp cloth and rinse with water.
A white haze on stainless steel?
A white or grey haze indicates limescale. Ranex Rustbuster is also ideally suited for removing limescale. Here too, the rule applies: apply Ranex to the limescale, rinse immediately with water, and a sparkling, new stainless steel surface will be restored.
Cleaning heavily soiled stainless steel
Stainless steel that has not been maintained for a long time can develop green, brown, or other dark stains. Use Ranex Rustbuster for this as well.
